LJPD Reports on 7th & Carson Two-Vehicle Accident
 
On 06/04/2023, La Junta Police Officers responded to 7th and Carson Ave.
 
After completing a thorough investigation, officers determined that the driver of the at-fault vehicle was traveling north on Carson Ave. The second vehicle was traveling west on 7th Street approaching Carson Avenue.
 
Both vehicles approached the uncontrolled intersection at approximately the same time and collided in the intersection. 
 
The driver of the first vehicle was cited for Failing to Yield Right of Way at an uncontrolled intersection.
 
Drivers should remember this statute which applies to any uncontrolled intersection in Colorado - 
 
VEHICLE APPROACHING, ENTERING UNCONTROLLED INTERSECTION: A. When two (2) or more vehicles approach an uncontrolled intersection from different streets or highways, the driver of the vehicle on the left shall yield the right of way to the vehicle on the right.
