Otero College Athletes Recognized by NJCAA for Academic Success

Description: The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) honors both athletic and academic achievement in student athletes at the junior college level. Otero College proudly recognizes 30 students who were individually honored for their academic achievements in the 2022-2023 year. A total of 63 student athletes at Otero earned Academic All-Region 9 Awards. To achieve this award a student must have a GPA of 3.25 or above.

Otero College Athletes Recognized by NJCAA for Academic Success

LA JUNTA — The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) honors both athletic and academic achievement in student athletes at the junior college level. Otero College proudly recognizes 30 students who were individually honored for their academic achievements in the 2022-2023 year. A total of 63 student athletes at Otero earned Academic All-Region 9 Awards. To achieve this award a student must have a GPA of 3.25 or above. 

To qualify for NJCAA Academic All-American honors, student athletes must maintain a 3.6 or better cumulative grade point average and have been enrolled as a full-time student for three semesters.

Ten Otero College students met the qualifications for First Team (GPA of 4.0):

Baseball:  Chance Oquist

Men’s Basketball:  Daniele Russo

Men’s Soccer:  Colin Coleman

Softball:  Sidney Larrew, Brooklyn Ruiz

Volleyball:  Brooke Harris, Macy Rowan

Women’s Basketball:  Jaycie Casebolt

Women’s Golf:  Greer Mameda

Wrestling:  Malachi Gallegos


11 students met the qualifications for Second Team (GPA of 3.80-3.99):

Baseball:  Jordan Sandoval, Drew Woyteck

Men’s Golf:  Jackson Porter

Softball:  Kaylynn Du Preez, Olivia Woytiuk

Volleyball:  Courtney Krise

Women’s Basketball:  Anna Cera Curiel, Katia Nekic, Alexa Peraza Talaman, Nyabuath Tuom

Women’s Golf:  Kinzie Ensor

 

A total of nine student athletes earned Third Team Achievement honors (GPA of 3.6-3.79):

Baseball:  Philip Carter, Hector Gomez, Vincent Quintana, Levi Snowden, Maguire Wakelyn

Men’s Golf:  Jadon Lockwood

Softball:  Aaliyah Dejesus

Volleyball:  Valarie Allen

Women’s Basketball:  Hedda Koehne


63 student athletes earned Academic All-Region 9 Awards. To achieve this award a student must have a GPA of 3.25 or above.
