Human Remains Found in Kiowa County Under Investigation

During the weeks of September 10 and September 17, 2023, the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office assisted a Kansas law enforcement agency with a missing persons investigation. 

On September 20th, human remains of two individuals were located in Kiowa County south of Eads. The Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, is conducting an active criminal investigation.  

An official manner and cause of death will be determined by autopsy.  Confirmation of the identities of the recovered individuals will be determined by the Kiowa County Coroner’s Office. Because of the active nature of the investigation, no further information can be released at this time, but will be released at a later time when appropriate.
