Otero Sheriff Reports Arrest Made in North La Junta Incident

Description: Otero County Undersheriff Matthew Wallace Released the Following Incident Report Regarding an Arrest for False Imprisonment involving an at-risk-adult (Class 6 Felony) and Menacing (Class 5 Felony) in North La Junta. Mr. Cihura is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Otero Sheriff VS North La Junta Man with Gun

North La Junta, Colo. - October 12, 2023 - Deputies from the Otero County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the area of North Main Street and Chalmers Avenue in North La Junta on a report of a male chasing a female with a gun.

Deputies responded and attempted to contact the suspect Edwin Cihura, age 52.

Hwy 109 was closed due to the proximity to the incident location. Traffic was diverted to side streets. There were several attempts to contact and communicate with Cihura. Eventually, Cihura did exit the residence and was taken into custody.

Cihura was booked into the Bent County Jail on the charges of False Imprisonment involving an at-risk-adult (Class 6 Felony) and Menacing (Class 5 Felony).

Mr. Cihura is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
