Las Animas School District Update for Tuesday, January 16:   Reminder for HS Athletes:  you must be in attendance ALL day in order to play in tomorrow's basketball game vs. Crowley County.

First Impressions Learning Center will be on a 2-hour delay Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Please bundle up and be safe.

Due to the forecasted subzero temperature and windchills, Swink School will have a two hour delay on Tuesday, January 16. No breakfast will be served.

McClave Schools will be on a 2-hour delay tomorrow, Tuesday,January 16, 2024.

Due to the continued windchill factor and cold weather, La Junta Public Schools will be on a 2-hour delay tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

Due to wind chill weather conditions, Lamar RE-2 will have a 10am start on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. AM preschool has been cancelled. All scheduled district activities will take place without delay.

Wiley Schools will be on a 2-hour delay tomorrow, Tuesday,January 16, 2024.

Due to dangerously cold temperatures and wind chill factors, Otero College Child Development Services centers in Lamar, Las Animas, La Junta, Rocky Ford, Manzanola and Boone will have delayed starts on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Staff will report by 9 a.m. School will begin at 9:30 a.m. Please stay warm!

Due to extreme temperatures, Granada School will have a delayed dstart of 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Staff please be at school by 9:40 a.m. Please do not have students at the school before 9:40 a.m. There will be no morning preschool or breakfast served. Buses will run. Please dress warmly.

Due to Weather Conditions, Eads Schools will have a Late Start at 10 am on Tuesday, January 16, 2023. No Morning Preschool.

Walsh school will have a delayed start Tuesday, January 16th. All Classes will begin at 10:00 a.m.  No breakfast will be served

Warming Shelter Information:

As the extreme cold weather moves in this weekend, First Presbyterian Church of Las Animas is available as a warming shelter if anyone needs a warm place to be.

The Warming Shelter at First United Methodist Church of Rocky Ford will be open from 4:00 pm on Friday until 8:00 am on Tuesday. The Church has shelter capacity for up to about 30 people and we have access to shelter for pets as well. If people want to take advantage of the shelter and do not have transportation they can call Rocky Ford dispatch at (719) 254-3344 and they will coordinate transportation with Otero County Sheriff’s Office.

Due to low temperatures and potential road conditions, Crowley County School District will be on a 2-hour delay tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Buses will run exactly two hours after their normal route times. Classes will begin promptly at 9:55 AM.
