La Junta Police Investigating Two Shootings on Feb 2, 2024
On 02/02/2024 at approximately 22:52 Hours, Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Belleview Avenue for a report of shots fired. When Officers arrived no signs of a crime scene were located.
Officers then were dispatched to 5th and Lewis Avenue for a report of a vehicle that was shot multiple times. When Officers arrived multiple shell casings were located and Officers maintained a perimeter on the scene. No injuries were sustained from this incident.
Shortly after Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Santa Fe Avenue for another report of shots fired, when Officers arrived on the scene, a juvenile was located with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The juvenile was transported to AVRMC for medical treatment.
At this time the suspect vehicle is believed to be a silver sedan. Both shootings are believed to be related.
According to the La Junta Police Public Information Officer, an arrest warrant for a 17 year-old juvenile has been issued in this case.
