Obituary

Betty Hirakata of Rocky Ford passed away on March 20, 2024 at the age of 82 at her home. Betty was born in Mexico to Sylvester and Reyes Licano. Betty married Jerre Hirakata, and they raised their family in Rocky Ford. She ran Betty’s Farm Market on Hwy 10 and was known for having great chiles there. Betty enjoyed cooking, fishing, playing darts and she especially loved her diamond rings.

She was always happy and laughing, she made sure to live her life to the fullest. You could see her driving around in her blue pickup truck. She liked to make other people happy and was always giving to people in need. She loved her family and especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren. Betty liked to play the slot machines and she would go to Cripple Creek, Laughlin, NV and New Mexico. Betty always rooted for the Broncos, even though she was never a Peyton Manning fan.

Betty is survived by her husband Jerre Hirakata, 2 children: Michael Hirakata of Rocky Ford & Gail Contreras of Pueblo, 5 grandchildren, 3 brothers: Gilbert (Rocky) Licano of Seattle, WA, Ozy Licano of Las Vegas, NV, Obed Licano of El Paso, TX, her sister: Ruth Licano of Pueblo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Irma Edwards along with 3 brothers: Raymond Licano, Richard Licano & Jobe Licano.

Services Held on Friday, May 31st, 2024 at 10:30am at Valley View Cemetery in Rocky Ford, Colorado.

Bellwood Ford Ustick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
