LJPD Reports: Drug Distribution Suspect Caught Sleeping

On April 8th, 2024, at about 6:55 PM, the La Junta Police Department responded to Love's Country Store at 308 E 1st St in La Junta, CO, after a male was reported to be passed out in his vehicle.

Officers located the male, identified as 27-year-old Jeremy Del Rio, and he was taken into custody. During the investigation, officers found that Del Rio was in possession of a loaded handgun, a substantial amount of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and a quantity of cash.

Del Rio was booked into jail on charges of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, prohibited use of weapons, unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon, DUI, and being a special offender due to the possession of the handgun and drugs.

*The charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty*
