La Junta Police Department 2024 Citizen's Academy

Due to the sensitive nature of some subjects being presented in the La Junta Police Citizens Academy, a criminal history background check will be conducted on all Citizen Academy applicants. Applicants with a criminal history will be individually evaluated before being cleared to attend the academy.

The La Junta Police Department reserves the right to deny attendance based upon adverse criminal history information.

Please complete the application and return it to the La Junta Police Department either by dropping it off at the office, 601 Colorado Ave., or mailing it to PO Box 489, La Junta CO 81050. Applicants must live or work within the city limits of La Junta to qualify.

Once your application has been processed and approved you will receive a phone call or email indicating acceptance. This phone call/email will provide you with the date, time and location of the first class.

The information you provide below will be used as a basis for a criminal history check that will determine your eligibility for the La Junta Police Citizen Academy. Please make sure the information is as accurate as possible so as to help with timely completion of the criminal history check. All information on this application will be kept confidential.
