La Junta Rural Fire Protection District Plans to Reorganize Volunteer Program - Confirms No Impact to Emergency Services

Good afternoon everyone. You may have seen some information put on Facebook that today by some individuals about the volunteer program being cut and how it could affect services.

Well that straight facts are we are revamping and reorganizing the program. We are moving to a Reserve program in which we can have some stricter guidelines and requirements for people to be part of and be part of a department.

It is a known problem across the nation about volunteerism is diminishing especially in the fire service. We can guarantee that no services will be effected by this reorganization locally or with our mutual aid.

The new program will have staff at the level of Paramedics and Firefighters/EMT certified. We also have the full support from out board of directors of the La Junta Rural Fire Protection District. We have the highest quality of service to our community and always will. Thank you.
