Two-Vehicle Crash on US Highway 50 in Otero County Closes Lanes, No Injuries Reported

The Colorado State Patrol Released the Following Information Regarding a Two-Vehicle Crash on US Hwy 50 that Occurred on February 16, 2026. 

The Colorado State Patrol Public Information Officer reported that state troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash at 2:22 PM on Feb 16, 2026 on US Hwy 50 near mile post 364 in Otero County.

The Crash involved two vehicles, according to the CSP Public Information Officer.

Vehicle 1 Description: Box Truck Milk Truck

Vehicle 2 Description: Semi Tractor Trailer

Vehicle one was travelling eastbound on Hwy 50 near mile post 364 in the left most lane.

Vehicle two entered US Hwy 50 from county Rd 16 traveling Eastbound.

Vehicle 1 braked and swerved to the left just before colliding with the rear of vehicle two.

Vehicle 1 rotated clockwise and rolled 1/4 time coming to rest on it's left side blocking the number 1 eastbound lane and both westbound lanes.

Vehicle 2 came to a controlled stop on the right shoulder of the Eastbound roadway.

No Injuries were reported.

According to the CSP PIO, both eastbound and westbound lanes of US Hwy 50 were closed to clear the crash and clean the roadway. The Eastbound Lanes were closed at 2:26 PM and Westbound Lanes were closed at 2:29 PM and traffic was detoured to Otero County Rd. 16 & 17 through Otero County Rd. G.
