Obituary

Cody Blake Mayo, 50, passed away on January 27, 2021 at his La Junta home. He was born on May 16, 1970 in Sterling, Colorado to Earl & Delethia Sue (Lawler) Mayo.

Cody was a very simple person who did not want a lot. He had the house, wife and life that he said he had always dreamed about, making him a very content person. His heart was very big and what he had he would share with those he loved. He liked fishing with his friends and family, along with other outdoor activities. Spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids was important to him and he savored every minute of it. Making them happy was the most important thing to him. Cody could often times be found outside in his garage listening to music and tinkering with this or that and wood working. He will be missed most by his wife and kids. We all loved him very much.

He is survived by his wife, Neyla of the La Junta home; children, Jodi (Chris Abeyta) Mayo of La Junta; Shawnie (Chris) Rael of La Junta; Tristen Mayo of Walsh, CO; grandchildren, Christopher, Kaleb, Arya and Amara Abeyta; Jryis, Karter, Marcellus and Blair Rael; Zoey Zimmerman and Sawyer Filbeck; step-mother, Bobbie Sue Spurgeon of La Junta; mother, Sue (Don) Galyon of Holly, CO; siblings, Monte Mayo, Jake (Kristi) Mayo and Lisa Cherry. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Mayo and grandparents, Bud & Opal Mayo.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor John Dell of the First Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in La Junta.
