Obituary

Michelle Rae Cooper, a beloved member of the community went home to be with the Lord May 3, 2026, with her loved ones by her side. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend full of kindness who touched many lives.

Life and Legacy:

      • Early Life: Michelle was born in Johnson Kansas to Bobbie Dunivan Myers and Brycel B. Myers.
      • Career & Achievements: Michelle spent many years working as a licensed insurance agent, then onto becoming a licensed medical billing and coding agent and last worked at Southeast Colorado Medical Clinic as a registration clerk. She was known for her dedication and professionalism.
      • Interests: Michelle enjoyed spending time crafting, decorating, shopping, and loving people. Mike says, “Michelle loved collecting people” i.e., friends. She was a friend to so many.

Family:

Michelle is survived by her loving husband of 18 years, Michael Cooper, and their daughter, Katie. As well as her parents, Brycel Myers and Bobbie Dunivan Myers; sisters: Dicie Isley (Shannan), Rhonda Lavielle (Jeremy), LaFonda McCabe, Wanda Smith (Travis), Keia Myers (Miah), and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She leaves behind a legacy of love. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents: Ocie (Tun) Myers and Rita Ellen Myers; her maternal grandparents, Alberta and Robert Dunivan, great grandparents Roy and Edna Wheeler and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Maltbie Funeral Services Chapel, located at 265 W. 8th Avenue, Springfield, Colorado. The service will be live-streamed. Interment will follow the service at Springfield Cemetery, Highway 160, Springfield, Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in memory of Michelle to the Infusion Center at Prowers Medical Center. Checks can be made payable to Prowers Medical Center Foundation, Attn: Amber Rider, 401 Kendall Drive, Lamar, CO 81052. Please indicate "Infusion Center" on the memo line.
