From History Colorado:

The State Historic Preservation Officer’s Award goes to the completion of the Japanese-American Resource Survey in Otero County. The project conducted a combined limited archaeological and building survey of six sites associated with Japanese-American history, specifically in Swink and Rocky Ford. This project is important because it recognizes and increases understanding of Japanese-American history in rural Colorado. The oral histories and the historic properties that were documented in this project shed light on the life and contributions of Japanese-Americans who have made this area their home since the early 1900s.
