Obituary

Margaret M. Carrillo, 83, of La Junta passed away on February 6, 2021 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in La Junta surrounded by her family. She was born on June 8, 1937 to Trinidad & Esperanza (Magana) Carrillo in La Junta. Margaret was the third of six children.

She was employed by the East Otero School District R1 from her high school graduation in 1955 until her retirement in 2000. During her time with the school district she worked as the bookkeeper/secretary starting at the Lincoln Elementary School under C.T. Pringle before moving to St. Patrick’s Elementary School and finally onto East School where she retired.

She is survived by her brother, Gilbert (Lupe) Carrillo of La Junta; sister, Florence (Chris) Flores of Rocky Ford; sister-in-law, Cordy Carrillo of La Junta; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Cecilia Miera, brothers, Andrew and Richard Carrillo; nephews, John and Mark Miera.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Friday, February 12, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Mass at 1:30 p.m. both services at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Victor Raj officiating.

The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the medical staff on the third floor at AVRMC.
