Quilts of Valor at The Ordway VFW Veterans Day Ceremony

The Ordway VFW hosted the Colorado Prairie Quilters Chapter of the Quilts of Valor to honor local veterans Patricia Leard, John LeBrec, and Patricia Stevenson for their service.

John LeBrec is wrapped in his quilt and presented with his award certificate from Shawn Geist.

Marilyn Hagans (in the red jacket) made the Quilts of Valor and is enjoying dinner with the recipients. It was a packed house and a wonderful ceremony honoring our nations Veterans.

About The Colorado Prairie Quilters

Colorado Prairie Quilters began in January of 2021. We are members of the National Quilt Of Valor Foundation. We meet one Saturday every quarter in Haswell for a day of sewing, pot luck, and fun. There are about 12 – 15 active members. We use donations to purchase the fabrics to make the quilts.

Most quilts are awarded on Veteran’s day with a few awards scattered throughout the year. This past year we awarded 40 quilts between all the members. The six counties represented by members are Otero, Crowley, Bent, Kiowa, Cheyenne, and Prowers.

For more information on our guild please contact Carole Spady at spadyc76@gmail.com
