La Junta Driver License Office Expanding Service to Five Days a Week

LAKEWOOD, Friday, April 9, 2021 -- Coloradans on the Eastern Plains will soon have more opportunities to get the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) services they need.

Starting Monday, April 12, the La Junta Driver License Office will serve Coloradans five days a week, up from three days. 

By expanding the days of operation, the DMV hopes to better serve area residents by offering more appointments and more days to schedule them. 

The La Junta Driver License Office, at 13 W. Third St. Ste 101, is now open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and offers services by appointment only. Coloradans wanting to make use of the expanded service days can schedule appointments by visiting myDMV.colorado.gov. 

“Customers have been requesting five days of service for a while, and I’m glad we can now offer more opportunities for residents to get the DMV services they need,” said Christina Salas, La Junta Driver License Office manager. “We’re working hard to expand service to all Coloradans, whether that’s online or in-person.”

Regional Manager Shari Creason echoed Salas’ sentiment and said this is a great opportunity to illustrate the DMV’s commitment to underserved Coloradans.

“Colorado is a big, diverse state that can present logistical challenges,” said Creason, whose area of responsibility stretches from Canon City and Colorado Springs to Trinidad and Alamosa. “We are thrilled to grow our service days in La Junta and hope southeastern Coloradans are as excited as we are.”

The expansion of service days in La Junta is just one of the DMV’s recent moves to better serve rural Coloradans.

On Dec. 17, 2019, the DMV also expanded service days and relocated its Lamar Driver License Office, and began offering Colorado Road and Community Safety Act (CO-RCSA) (SB 13-251) services there on Jan. 2, 2020.

Additionally, the DMV has established an office, open monthly, in Meeker to serve rural northwestern Coloradans in February 2020.

DMV empowers Coloradans to Save Time, Go Online with its 40 online services. At myDMV.Colorado.gov, Coloradans can access dozens of online DMV services, including license and ID card renewals, vehicle registration renewals, paying a traffic ticket, motor vehicle records, first-time vehicle registration and many more.

Additionally, almost 20 DMV online services are available on the myColorado™ app, available on Android and iOS devices.
