Obituary

Benny Alvino Gonzales, 75, of Pueblo West, passed away on June 17, 2022, at the Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo. He was born on March 1, 1947, in La Junta to John & Ida (Archuleta) Gonzales.

He served in the U.S Army from 1965 to 1968. He worked for many years with the BNSF and eventually retired as a machine operator. He loved his Denver Broncos, dancing and he loved fishing and enjoyed car rides. He was a big jokester and he always had stories to tell. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and all who knew him, he will be dearly missed. We hope Heaven is ready for him, because he was truly a great man.

He is survived by his wife, Lupe of the Pueblo West home; children, Ronnie Gonzales, Richard Gonzales and Sherry (Donny) Vela all of Pueblo West; siblings, Alma (Arthur) Gutierrez of La Junta; Jimmy (Betty) Gonzales of Commerce City, CO; Ruben (Lydia) Gonzales of La Junta; Sandra Ruybal of Pueblo; Kenny Sandoval of Colorado Springs; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister & brother-in-law, Isabel (Julia) Vasquez of Centennial, CO; brother & sister-in-law, Paul (Bonny) Vasquez of Pueblo; brother-in-law, George Vasquez of La Junta; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Richard Whatley and Toni Hernandez, sisters, Teresa Gonzales and Virginia Hernandez.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Joseph Matitu officiating. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in La Junta with military honors by the Rocky Ford Rifle Team American Legion Post #8. Visitation will be Thursday, June 29, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
