CSP: Three Juveniles Injured in Motorcycle VS Deer Accident on Hwy 194

On October 9, 2022 The Colorado State Patrol responded to a single vehicle accident on CO Hwy 194 at approximately 2:30am.

Vehicle: 1994 Yamaha motorcycle driven by a 14 year old male from La Junta

Passengers: 13 year old male from Cheraw, 14 year old male from La Junta.

Narrative:

The 1994 Yamaha Motorcycle was traveling westbound near mile marker 1 on CO Hwy 194 when it struck a deer in the roadway. The vehicle lost control and the driver and two passengers were ejected.

The 14 year old male driver from La Junta sustained minor injuries. The 13 year old male passenger from Cheraw sustained serious injuries. The 14 year old male passenger from La Junta sustained moderate injuries.

According to the Colorado State Patrol Drugs, alcohol, and speed are not being considered to be factors in the accident.

Currently, no citations have been issued in this incident. This incident is still under investigation, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
