The First Church of La Junta invites the community to “Sing God a Simple Song,” an afternoon of music with tenor Scott Anderson, along with James Lind on trumpet and Dean Rees accompanying, on Sunday, March 5, at 2 p.m.

Scott Anderson is known as the principal tenor soloist with the Estes Valley Chamber Singers, the Oratorio Society of Estes Park, the Estes Park Village Band, and several small ensembles.  He has also performed in more than a dozen musicals with the Fine Arts Guild of the Rockies, as well as with the Longmont Symphony and the Longmont Chorale, the University of Colorado Festival of Choirs concerts, and the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra’s chorus.

James Lind and Dean Rees are well known in the community.  An accomplished trumpetist, Dr. Lind is Professor of Music at Otero College and serves as Choir and and Handbell Director at the La Junta United Methodist Church. Dean Rees conducts the Otero Community Choir and serves as Accompanist and Music Coordinator at the First Church of La Junta.

Music will include Bernstein, Handel, Purcell, Britten, and more. Admission is free. A voluntary free will offering will be received.
