Plays in The Park Into the Woods JR Casting Call

Plays in the Park Youth-Led Theatre, directed by Bridget Briscoe and Bethany Taullie, is ecstatic to announce their 2023 summer musical: Into the Woods JR. With a book by James Lapine and music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Into the Woods JR. is based on the Broadway production. The musical follows a Baker and his wife who venture into the woods to break a spell. Along the way, they run into several beloved fairytale characters, such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and Jack. 

All K-12 performers are invited to audition for this production. Auditions will be held on May 26th at 10-12pm and 4-6pm. Actors, please choose only one audition time to attend. For auditions, actors will need to bring/prepare: 

A printed and filled out audition form. Scan the QR code provided to access and print this form. 

A one minute song of the actors choice. 

A one minute memorized monologue of the actors choice. 

A common audition song from the show. Actors can choose between “Agony” and “I know things now.” The exact cuts of these songs are posted on the Plays in the Park Facebook page.

Callbacks will be held on May 27th from 10-12pm. All material will be given to actors at the callback audition time. Not every actor will receive a callback; this does not mean they are not cast in the show. Auditions and callbacks will be held at Live Well Park in La Junta (3rd & Santa Fe Ave). This is also where the rehearsals and performances will be held. Rehearsals will be Mondays-Fridays from 10-12pm (Actors will not be needed at every rehearsal.) Production Dates are July 15-16. Plays in the Park is thrilled to put on another production this summer and share the joy of the performing arts with children in the community!
