Obituary

Nancy Anne Steir, died unexpectedly October 25, 2023 at her home of residence in Rocky Ford. She was born at a Naval Hospital, North Island, San Diego, California on February 14, 1944. Nancy graduated from Rocky Ford High School, Class of 1962. She was involved in and taught band, twirling, tap dance, acrobatics and was a member of the Melonettes. Following high school she graduated with an accounting degree from Otero Junior College. Nancy was a lifetime resident of Rocky Ford, and was married to her late husband, Jack Steir for 48 years. She was a member of the Nazarene Church in Rocky Ford for almost 50 years. She was very active in owning and running several local businesses including Steir Oil Company, and Steir Mini Storages, and was the Secretary and Bookkeeper for their multiple businesses.

Mrs. Nancy Steir was preceded in death by her grandparents Walter N. and Edith L. Hull; her parents Ralph and Virginia Ellsaesser, and her father Milton B. Northcutt. Additionally, she was preceded in death by her infant son, David; and her step-son Robby L. Steir. She is survived by her children: Deborah A DeGrado of Fairbanks, Alaska; Kimberly K. Gossett of Rocky Ford, James J. DeGrado of Lonetree; her step- children: Terry R. Steir of Clayton New Mexico, Gwendolyn (Jimmy) Natividad of Century, Florida and Devra (Steve) Grebence. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Leah Garrett, Joshua (Ruby) DeGrado, Jasmine Gossett, Douglas (Katie) Gossett, Abigail Grebence, Caley DeGrado, Bradon DeGrado; including five great grand-children, extended family and friends. She will be especially remembered for her strong faith, her unconditional and compassionate love and her endless generosity and sacrificial giving.
