La Junta Fire Assists at Evraz Steel Mill Fire

Yesterday at approx 430pm we were requested to respond to Pueblo to assist with the fire at Evraz Steel Mill with our ladder truck.

Chief Davidson responded with Truck 1. Upon arrival they were assigned to the East Division to work on knocking down the Northeastern portion of the fire to help stop the spread.

Assisting this operation was Fowler Fire Dept. Rocky Ford Fire Department. Manzanola Fire Dept and numerous others providing water tenders to supply La Junta ladder truck.

We flowed approx 40,000 gallons of water to stop the progression of the Northeastern portion of the fire.

Many thanks to all the departments who assisted and to the Pueblo Fire Department for doing a hell of a job knocking down this huge fire. The crew from La Junta returned home at approximately 1am. 

We also assisted with the Vision Hill Fire on the North side of Pueblo with that wildland fire with a Type 3 Brush Truck and 3 personnel.
