La Junta Fire Dept VS Carson Ave. Structure Fire

This morning at approx 0659am we responded to a reported structure fire at 1612 Carson. Upon arrival of Eng 1 they found moderate smoke coming out of apartment 105.

Crews made a quick offensive attack to fine heavy smoke conditions inside. They did find a couch on fire with fire climbing the wall. Fire was knocked down and started ventilation started to clear out the smoke.

Crews searched the neighboring apartment to make sure of no fire extension. Overhaul started and the ceiling was removed to make sure the fire didn’t make it into the attic.

The occupant of the apartment was transported to AVRMC for precaution and evaluated for possible smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire was from possibly smoke while home oxygen was in use.

All crews returned to service. DFPC Engine 34 also assisted with the call.
