“Cruisin’ Into Fun” Festival & “Keep Kids Safe” Fair

News Release

Tri-County Family Care Center (TCFCC) will have their 18th Annual “Cruisin’ Into Fun Festival” & “Keep Kids Safe” Fair, on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Rocky Ford along South Main from Railroad Park to Maple Street. 

Rocky Ford Chamber of Commerce will sell burritos all day beginning at 9 am. Kenny Arguello will emcee the event and Trent Ryan, Ark Valley Entertainment will be the DJ. There will be entertainment throughout the day at the stage on Front Street & Railroad Park to include Matt Fusion Music, who will sing, Kaydence Salazar, and the Successful Rejects Band. Performance by: an Old West Enactment from Colorado Springs, with a live gunfight!

Kids Games will start at 10 a.m. in the park. There will be several contests including: Hula Hoop, Jump Rope and Sack Race in four age categories: 5-8, 9-12, 13-17 yrs and older. Kid’s Games sponsors are: Tank & Tummy, Pepsi Beverages Company, Rocky Ford Sonic, Erlinda’s Salon, Rocky Ford Food Market, La Junta Pizza Hut & Wendy’s.

Our “Got Wheels?” car show will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with registration from 9 – 11 a.m. at Ninth and Walnut. Show will feature cars of any year, make and model in the following classes: Original, Classic, 4 Wheel Drive, Customized, Lowrider, Hotrod, Motorcycle & Lowrider Peddle Bike. New this year is an antique bike category.  People with unusual & art vehicles are encouraged to bring them to show for free. Participants will vote on a People’s Choice award. UC Lifeline helicopter will land in City Hall parking lot at 10 a.m. to be on display and distribute information. Car Show sponsors are: Ruby’s Auto Body, Absolute Automotive, NAPA/Valley Auto Parts, Perkins Chevrolet, La Junta Car Quest, La Junta Trading, H&R Tire, Ruben’s Body Shop, and Rikki Dee’s Cyclery Shop.

 “Keep Kids Safe” Fair will have safety booths for children 16 and younger to receive a sticker from each booth they visit for Bingo. Once the Bingo sheets are filled, they will be entered into a drawing at the registration table by the stage for a prize. La Junta Fire Department will have their Fire Safety trailer on hand to tour. Other safety booths are as follows: Rocky Ford Chamber will have Buddy System Safety, Small Town Project will have a Kids Food Safety, Rocky Ford Fire Dept., SECOM will have Internet Safety, Southeast Regional Tobacco Initiative with Otero County Health Dept., Southeastern Colorado Quitline, Colorado State Patrol will be on hand with seatbelt convincer. ‘Keep Kids Safe Fair’ sponsors are: La Junta State Bank, Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center, Dianne Wilhoite, Lewis Bolt & Nut, Wallace Oil, SM Construction, Valley Plumbing & Heating, First National Bank and Val-U-Med Pharmacy. A “Super” Sponsor is Total Concept. Our In-Kind sponsors are KKTV 11 News, UC Health Lifeline Helicopter, & Wendy’s.

People can take a tour of the new Rocky Ford Public Safety facility. Kids can participate in an obstacle course. They plan to have several drawings for bikes, along with TCFCC’s raffle drawing at 4:00 pm on the stage. A beer garden will be sponsored by Rocky Ford Wrestling Foundation. Aaron Salas & Eric Haun will have the corn hole tournament.

The day’s festivities will conclude with a Pie Eating Contest co-sponsored by Village Inn of La Junta & TCFCC at 4:15 p.m. in front of the stage on Front Street. This is between RF City Hall and Railroad Park with four age categories: 6-9, 10-12, 13-15 and 16 yrs and older.
