Linda was born on October 18, 1946, in Rocky Ford to Orville and Marjorie Cobb of Ordway. She passed away in an auto accident near Cheraw on July 23, 2022. Linda was the oldest of 5 children to include Gary, Larry, Sarah and Ty. Linda met Jim Adkins at a sock hop dance. They were married on February 5, 1967, celebrating 55 years! They had two sons, Chet and Flint.

Linda grew up in Ordway, Colorado graduating from Crowley County High School in 1964. She attended Otero Junior College and Pueblo Community College with a major in Home Economics. She then studied journalism for a brief time in Iowa. She and Jim moved around the state when he took a job with the highway department. She worked at several banks throughout the years. Jim and Linda opened J & L Leather Shop in Fowler, where they sold western wear and repaired leather items. After Chet graduated, they moved to Greeley, where Jim transferred with his job. There, Linda worked for a grain commodity business. After Jim’s retirement they relocated to Penrose, Colorado, where Linda worked for a chiropractor and the Apple Orchard gift shop. Linda and Jim eventually moved to a home in North La Junta, where they were living at the time of her death.
