Obituary

Henry Theodore Freidenberger, III, 40, of Fowler, Colorado, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. He was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on Thursday, February 9, 1984, to Henry "Ted" Freidenberger, Jr. and Donna Logie.  A proud veteran who dedicated a significant part of his life to serving his country, Henry exemplified the values of honor, commitment, and perseverance throughout his military and civilian endeavors. 

In 2002 after high school, Henry worked at Debourgh Manufacturing in La Junta while attending Otero Junior College. He then joined the United States Marine Corps in 2003. Henry's military achievements are a testament to his commitment and courage. He earned the rank of E-6 Staff Sergeant (Ssgt), a significant accomplishment in his esteemed military career. Serving as a Supply Chain Administration Specialist for over two years & three months.

He became a SHELLBACK, crossing the equator aboard the USN vessel Makin Island on January 23, 2015. Henry proudly earned his wings on August 9, 2013, at the Airborne Course in Ft. Benning, GA, and became Parachutist Qualified and participated in the elite training courses at SERE School on April 6, 2012, at Camp Lejeune, NC, with Marine Corps Special Operations Command (MARSOC). His service was recognized with multiple awards, including the Achievement Medal, Commendation Medal, and numerous Honor Graduate awards. 

Beyond his military accomplishments, Henry’s impact extended into his community through his involvement with organizations such as the American Legion, where he was an active member at Posts #8 and #9. Following his distinguished military service, Henry continued to make a positive impact in his community through his role at PEER 613 with Valley Wide Health Care.  

Henry grew up in the Lutheran faith, later finding spiritual homes at River of Life in Ordway, Victorious Church in Swink, and Praise Church in Pueblo. His dedication to helping others extended beyond his professional life as he actively participated in Celebrate Recovery programs at Victorious and Praise Churches. He devoted time to Celebrate Recovery at both Victorious Church and Praise Church, embodying his commitment to helping others find hope and healing. Henry was well-regarded among his peers and was known for his willingness to support those in need, a testament to the kind-hearted nature that defined his character. 

In addition to his meaningful service and community involvement, Henry cherished his family deeply. He took immense pride in his children and often expressed that his greatest achievement was witnessing their growth and successes. His heart swelled with joy when reflecting on personal moments, such as baptizing his son, Little Henry. 

An enthusiast in various pursuits, Henry found happiness in fishing, particularly fly fishing, and had a penchant for mixed martial arts. Music also played a vital role in his life, with a fondness for the song "Big Iron" by Marty Robbins, and great admiration for his brother, Jordan Morado, who was his favorite artist. 

Henry possessed a creative spirit that led him to author the book "10 Rules to Succeed Like a Marine," and he was in the process of writing another book, hoping to inspire others with the lessons he learned. His passion for storytelling reflected his desire to share his journey, highlighting his triumphs over challenges while advocating for recovery and resilience. 

Henry leaves behind a legacy of bravery, compassion, and dedication. He will be remembered not only for his remarkable achievements but also for the positive impact he strived to make in the world around him. Family, friends, and fellow service members alike will carry forth his memory. 

Henry is survived by his mother, Donna (Jed Glover) Freidenberger of La Junta, CO; father, Ted (Irma) Freidenberger of Rocky Ford, CO; children, Makenna Freidenberger, Gunner Freidenberger, Henry T. Freidenberger IV, and Sofia Freidenberger; stepsons Brysen and Tevin Anderson; siblings, Misty Freidenberger, Jacob Freidenberger, Judy Morado, and Jordan Moraado; 3 nieces, 4 nephews, uncles, James Smith, Larry Smith & Bud Curtis, aunt, Judy Toti, as well as numerous aunts & uncles. He is preceded in death by his maternal & paternal grandparents and uncle, Jake Freidenberger.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at River of Life Church in Ordway, CO with Pastor Daniel Blackwell of Victorious Church and Pastor Jeb Brown of River of Life Church officiating. Inurnment with military honors will take place Monday, January 27, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at Ft. Lyon National Cemetery in Las Animas, CO.
