John Martin Wildfire Damage

These photos were taken today after yesterday's fire on the John Martin State Wildlife Area. Rough estimate of area burned is 4,000 acres. Thank you to the firefighters from area agencies and the other agencies involved. The wind made it very difficult to keep it contained.

The fire was still burning along the river Saturday January 16th.

Looking toward the river across from Fort Lyon.

Those were prickly pear cacti.

Beaver Pond...

The cattail marshes...

These were Yuccas...

Only stumps of cottonwoods remain after the fire...
