9 Injured After Colorado Springs Fire Engine Crashes Into Bus in Downtown Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 13, 2026) — Nine people were injured Saturday morning when a Colorado Springs Fire Department engine responding to an emergency call collided with a bus in downtown Colorado Springs, according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department.

The crash occurred at approximately 10 a.m. at the intersection of Tejon Street and Bijou Street as Engine 3 was responding to a medical emergency. Fire crews reported the collision after their fire engine struck a bus carrying several passengers.

According to the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD), four firefighters aboard Engine 3 suffered injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment. The bus was carrying seven people, including the driver. Five bus occupants were also taken to area hospitals for evaluation and treatment of injuries.

Emergency responders from additional CSFD units quickly arrived at the scene to provide medical care, assist with the extrication of the bus driver, and support injured firefighters. In total, 21 Colorado Springs Fire Department personnel responded to the incident.

Officials said Engine 3 sustained significant damage and has been declared a total loss following the crash.

"Our firefighters respond to emergencies every day knowing there are risks associated with serving this community," the Colorado Springs Fire Department said in a statement. "Today, our focus is on our injured firefighters and everyone else affected by this incident."

The department also expressed gratitude to emergency crews, public safety partners, and medical teams who responded to assist those involved.
