JOHN FLINN SUMMER EXHIBIT OPENS

The Rawlings Heritage Center & Museum is proud to announce that the JOHN FLINN SUMMER EXHIBIT is open from now until past Labor Day Weekend.

An old-fashioned tea will be held on July 11th from 2pm to 4pm to celebrate the Exhibit with a small presentation, drawings and door prizes.  Period costumes welcome, but not required.

This exhibit has been a labor of love for the John Flinn family and Heritage Center for well over a few years in the planning.  It was cancelled last summer due to Covid, but now it’s come to fruition!  John Flinn was an influential southwest artist, Bent County native, and a veteran.

John and Thelma (Weber) lived in Las Animas for many years.  John’s entire story was featured in Bent County Chronicle #41, on sale at the Museum.  Over 25 of John’s silk screen prints and serigraphs are being showcased.  If you are traveling through Southern Colorado this summer, we hope you can stop in and see the exhibit and also tour the beautifully curated Heritage Center and Museum.

It really is a treasure to be explored!  We thank John’s daughter Joan, and granddaughters Juli, Merrie and Kristi, for their help with the exhibit.  For more information, visit johnflinngallery.com.  If you have questions, contact the Museum at 719-456-6066.
