Danny Richard Montini

Danny Richard Montini, 73, of Cornville, Arizona, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, following a short illness.

Danny was born May 28, 1948, in Santa Barbara, California, to Mario and Antonietta Montini who immigrated to the United States from Italy after the Italian/Ethiopian war in search of freedom and prosperity. Engaging in the American beef industry, Mario soon moved his family, including Danny, to Southeast Colorado where he purchased a cattle feeding operation and formed Montini Cattle Company.

Under the guidance of their father, Danny and his brother Marvin grew up working in the family cattle and farming operations and learned the beef business from top to bottom. This included buying, ranching, feeding and farming. Over the years, they successfully expanded their operation to one that was far ahead of its time.

Danny graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 1966. He then married DeAnn Covey and they continued to engage in the farming and cattle sector while adding Dominic and Marisa to their family. When Marisa was grown, Danny and DeAnn moved to Arizona after purchasing a NAPA Auto Parts store. At the same time, Danny continued his interests in the ranching and cattle operations.

Danny loved race cars. Over the years, he and friend Gary Shane, partnered on a top fuel dragster and funny car and Danny thoroughly enjoyed competing with his midget race car. Later in life, his greatest love was working in his garage on projects, and especially restoring the “oldie but goody” automobiles. Danny was a man of high character and valued honesty and integrity in people and business. He considered family the most important of all assets, and he loved them deeply.

Danny was known to be their “protector” and defender. He was gracious and kind but firm. He was also candid and astute, and his presence demanded respect. Danny was a noble man who understood there was a time for everything under the sun.

He is survived by his daughter, Marisa Montini of Gilbert, Arizona. Also surviving are his siblings, Walter Montini, Ettra (Raul) Jaramillo, Deanna (Dave) Woodward, Linda (John) Jorgensen, Marlene (Bill) Lehmbeck, and Marvin (Cynthia) Montini, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Danny was preceded in death by his only son, Dominic. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Mario and Antonietta, his former wife DeAnn, and nephew Bret Bond.

Brown Funeral Home of Eads, Colorado, will be handling arrangements. Graveside services officiated by John Dell will be held honoring Danny on Thursday, July 29th at 10:30 at the Rocky Ford Cemetery in Rocky Ford, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to a charity of your choice that means something to you and your family.
