Marjorie Pfeiff Hiza, 96, passed away on December 13, 2021, in Fowler, CO.

Marjorie (and her twin sister, Margaret) were born on March 5, 1924, in Fowler, Colorado to Frank and Maude Pfeiff. She was one of 10 siblings in her family. She attended a small country school, Lakeview, until high school. She graduated from Fowler High School. After graduation she worked at the Farmer’s Grain and Bean COOP in Fowler until she was married.

In 1947, she married John M. Hiza. They lived and worked, as second generation, on the family farm north of Fowler. She was the mother of two children – Edward Hiza and Richard Hiza. Marjorie was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker and lovingly took care of Richard for thirty-six years in the family home for his entire life. She enjoyed cooking wonderful meals for anyone who walked in her door.

Immediate survivors include her son, Ed (Libby) Hiza; grandchildren, Justin (Kip) Hiza of Barneveld, NY, Elise Hiza, M.D. of Berthoud, CO, Emily (Patrick) Kohan of Fort Collins, CO, and great grandchildren, Grace Hiza, Charlie Hiza and Evenson Kohan. She is also survived by her twin sister, Margaret Ragsdale and sister, Freda Spurlock; sister-in-laws Phylis Pfeiff, Joyce Pfeiff and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Hiza; son, Richard Hiza; granddaughter-in-law, Kristin Hiza; five brothers, Lester, Bob, John, Frank Jr. and Bud; two sisters, Melva Williams, Shirley Jackson and many loved in-laws.

The family would like to thank the many wonderful caregivers at Fowler Nursing Home who cared for Marjorie during her lengthy stay at that facility.

A private family burial was held at the Fowler Cemetery in Fowler, CO, on December 20, 2021. A larger family celebration will be held in the future.
