Annual Park Passes—A New Year’s Resolution!

La Junta, CO – Looking for a unique gift idea? Be one of the first to purchase a 2022 annual park entrance pass for Bent’s Old Fort National Historic Site! While visiting the fort, pass holders (and up to three of their guests) can see the sights and interact with living history interpreters as they demonstrate historic skills from the mid-1800s. Pass holders can also enjoy the peaceful hiking trails that wind along the Arkansas River. The new annual passes will go on sale in January 2022. Anyone who goes to the park with friends or family more than once a year will benefit by purchasing the annual pass.

As a reminder, Bent’s Old Fort National Historic Site will be transitioning to entrance fees and going “cashless” starting on January 2, 2022. While the National Park Service will be handling credit card purchases only, the newly updated Western National Parks Association park store, located in the fort, will accept all forms of payment, including cash, for entrance fees, the Bent’s Old Fort annual park pass, or the America the Beautiful Pass.

The fee dollars collected at Bent’s Old Fort National Historic Site will be invested back into the park to improve visitor facilities and services.

The new entrance fees for visitors aged 16 and older will be $10 per person. Younger visitors will be admitted for free. Because of the basic change in fee structure, starting in January 2022, all the America the Beautiful passes will be honored. These passes, which make popular gifts, provide access to more than 2,000 federal recreation areas across the United States. All the America the Beautiful passes and the Bent’s Old Fort passes may be purchased at Bent’s Old Fort National Historic Site.

Stop by the park to learn more about the Federal Recreational Lands Passes that are available or visit us online at https://www.nps.gov/planyourvisit/passes.htm. For information on Academic Fee Waivers, which are also now accepted by the park, contact Alicia Lafever at Alicia_Lafever@nps.gov.  Details and updates on park operations will continue to be posted on the park website https://www.nps.gov/beol/index.htm and on social media channels (https://www.facebook.com/NPSBentsFort).
