Obituary
Louis E. Perez, 55, passed away on December 3, 2021, at the Evans Army Hospital in Ft. Carson, Colorado. He was born on March 3, 1966, to Isaias Ernal & Mary Agnes (Trujillo) Perez in La Junta. He married Annette Martinez on August 22, 1983.
Louis was a long-time member of Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish. He attended La Junta public schools. He also attended Northern Arizona University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement administration. He served honorably in the United States Army reserves for 23 years and had two tours in Iraq. He was a correctional officer for 23 years as well.
He is survived by his wife, Annette of the La Junta home; children, Louis (Alicia) Perez, Crystal, Victoria and Alexis Perez; grandchildren, Alize, Deavion, Aiyana, Louis James and Kyle Perez; sisters, Patricia (Robert) Beals, Christina (Joe) Vasquez, Phyllis (Dana) Beals. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernal & Agnes Perez.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 7, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Victor Raj officiating. Interment will follow at the Ft. Lyon National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. with military honors by the Rocky Ford Rifle Team, American Legion Post #8. Visitation will be Thursday, January 6, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
