Obituary

Jerry Carlos Mora, Sr., 72, passed away on December 31, 2021, at his Rocky Ford home. He was born on April 29, 1949, in Rainsville, New Mexico Frank & Anita (Mascarenas) Mora.

Jerry served in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 – 1971. He married the love of his life, Marie Rangel in 1973. They had three children. Marie passed away in 1986, Jerry did an amazing job raising his children on his own.

He is survived by his children, Renee (Chris) Mora-Menges of La Junta; Michael (Katherine) Mora of Rocky Ford; Jerry (Michelle) Mora, Jr. of Las Animas; grandchildren the biggest joy of his life, Marie (James) Mora-Menges, Kina (Eric) Archuleta, Jade Mora-Menges, Chance Finch, Leia Mora-Menges, Justyne Mora-Vasquez, Mia Mora, bonus grandchildren, Raven Crus-Skiles, Raya Martin, Kaine Jones, Rayne Alvidrez, Remia Alvidrez; brother, Raymond (Maria) Mora of Rocky Ford; sisters, Pauline Veles, Helen (Doug) Valencia of La Junta; Frances (Floyd) Valencia of Swink; numerous godchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Daniel Mora, Sr., Ramos Mora, Louis Mora, John Mora and Patrick Mora; sisters, Angie Barela, Aurora Lujan, Elsie Mora, Mary Mora, and Anna May Mora and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held Thursday, January 13, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at the Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers those wishing to do so may make memorial donations to the American Legion, Post #8, direct or through the funeral home.
