Obituary

Elisa Lopez, 91, longtime resident of Crowley, passed away on January 20, 2022 at Fowler Health Care Center. Elisa was born to Isabel Lopez & Dolores Ramirez Lopez on January 12, 1931 near Manzanola, Colorado. She graduated in the class of 1950 from Manzanola.

Elisa is survived by her daughter, Dolores (Forrest) Neuerburg of Oregon; a son, Cris Lopez of Crowley; two brothers, Pete (Toni) Lopez of Ordway and Jess (Olivama) Lopez of Fowler; granddaughters, Kalena, Lexi, and Rachel, along with great grandchildren, Justin, Adalynn, and Braeson. Elisa was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Crisant Lopez; brothers, Tony Lopez, & Lee Lopez; sisters, Lupe Mendez, Tula Vasquez, Vera Lopez and infant sister, Dolores Lopez.

She was a homemaker, who later became Mayor of Crowley, and was also employed at Diven’s tomato factory during canning season for many years in Fowler. Later she became a CNA and retired from the Crowley County Nursing Center.

Elisa loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a love for her yard as well, caring for her trees, plants, and grass. Everything was always looking sharp. Her love for football and basketball wasn’t small, her favorites being the Broncos and the Warriors. She was sure to never miss watching their games. Another one of her favorites was her Spanish stories on television in the evenings.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Friday, January 28, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. both services at the St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Ordway, Colorado with Father Soosai officiating.
