Obituary

Loretta Schwartz 83 of Ordway passed away at her home peacefully on January 26th, 2022.

Loretta was born to Perry & Addie (Singer) Helton on October 21st, 1938 in Granite City, IL.

She was introduced to Keith Schwartz in 1958 on a blind date arranged by  Keith’s sister-in-law Dorothy. Loretta and Keith were married July 4th, 1959. They had two children Teresa in 1962 and Terry in 1967.

Together Loretta and Keith purchased an A&W restaurant in Buena Vista, Colorado and operated it for about 9 years. They also operated the Cheraw Cafe in Cheraw, Colorado. Most recently they started S&S Porta Potty with their son Terry and his wife  Edee. 

Loretta worked various jobs throughout her life and most fondly spoke about Whilhelm Feedyard in Rocky Ford, CO, June Chevrolet in Rocky Ford, CO and Crowley County Health Dept. in Ordway, CO.

Loretta loved baking, going to yard sales, snowmobiling, boating, playing volleyball, growing beautiful flowers, buying new clothes, shoes, and shopping for gifts.

Loretta was an active member of the River of Life Church. She looked forward to handing out bulletins every Sunday morning. She had a great love for Jesus Christ and trusted him all her life. Loretta loved her family and the life she had made with Keith.

Loretta is preceded in death by her parents, brother Roy Helton, brother-in-laws, Harry Doak,Lomax Tucker, and Gary Vargo.

She is survived by her husband, Keith, daughter Teresa (Clint) Heltibridle of Boone, CO, Son, Terry (Edee) of Ordway, CO; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Three sisters, Parilee Doak of Peyton, CO, Billie Tucker of Colorado Springs, CO, Beverly Vargo, of Peyton, CO and brother Perry Helton Jr., (Sharon) of Simla, CO and sister-in-law Dorothy Schwartz.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00  – 7:00 P.M. at Bellwood Ford Ustick Funeral Home, 305 N. 8th St., Rocky Ford, CO 81067 A funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 am on February 4th, 2022 at the River of Life Church 411 E 9th St, Ordway, CO 81063.  Burial will follow at Valleyview Cemetery in Ordway, CO.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice, 207 Colorado Ave., La Junta, CO 81050.
