La Junta School Cancelled 3/28/22 Due To Social Media Threat

Update from LJPD:

"The La Junta Police Department along with the East Otero School District are currently investigating a threat to one of the La Junta schools. This threat was made via a social media platform. We have the juvenile in custody at this time. Thank you for all the quick responses on the post that was made. As advised by the East Otero School District, school will be out tomorrow 03/28/2022. Thank you."

La Junta Superintendent Rick Lovato announced Sunday evening that all classes scheduled for March 28, 2022 have been canceled due to a "disturbing" social media video threatening the school district's safety.

Further, Lovato said that the East Otero School District is working with the La Junta Police Department.

SECO News has received a copy of the video that shows a potentially viable threat to students, staff and faculty.

The video clearly shows the message "don't go to school tomorrow," while an ammunition magazine is loaded.
