Hello to all, below are some COVID-19 updates for you.

  1. Recent Increase In Cases:  We are still seeing newly positive cases coming in.  Since my update last Friday (9/25/2020), Crowley cases have increased by 1 and Otero cases have increased by 7  So far, this recent increase in cases is not as prominent as the increase following the Independence Day Holiday, and let’s keep it that way, please do all you can to slow/stop the spread!
  1. Swink School Case Numbers Update:  On last week’s update (9/25/2020) I shared with you that Swink School and OCHD had questions regarding the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) case numbers regarding Swink School, specifically numbers that are found on the CDPHE outbreak website (https://covid19.colorado.gov/outbreak-data).  OCHD has been in contact CDPHE  multiple times regarding this.  The original number reported as Swink School attendee probable cases was 28, and after collaboratively working with CDPHE that number has been reduced to 9 as of the time of this writing.  Probable cases include those cases that do not have a lab confirmed positive test result but meet the clinical criteria for COVID-19 in an outbreak scenario.  Want to do some more reading on this, then point your browser here:  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XedRlgn7JmeJD9gVhRgnPmpVlXsVm4hd/view
  2. Updated School Guidance:  The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has very recently updated its guidance for schools.  This new guidance goes into effect Monday, 10/5/2020.  You can check out the new school guidance here:  https://drive.google.com/file/d/16g-2exA5iRt4F5mIvy1WDuAkjRRwzWJw/view
  3. Bent, Crowley, and Otero (BCO) Counties Protect Our Neighbors (PON) Application Submission:  Our Bent, Crowley, and Otero PON application was submitted last week on Wednesday, 9/23/2020.  As of the time of this writing, I have not yet received a response from CDPHE as to whether we have been certified or not.  I do know that CDPHE is monitoring our recent increase in cases, and that is more than likely part of the reason for the delay in their decision and response.  Read more about PON here:  https://covid19.colorado.gov/protect-our-neighbors
