1.      988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline:  The phone number 988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.  The Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals in the United States.  I tested this number yesterday, it did not work on my land-line office phone (I’m not sure why), but it worked on my mobile phone and on my land-line home phone.  Remember, 988.  Make sure to share the 988 number widely, as you never know when it might make a positive difference, maybe even save a life!

2.      COVID-19 Information

a.       COVID-19 Bivalent Booster Vaccine Approval:  On September 1st, 2022 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) officially approved Pfizer and Moderna’s updated COVID-19 omicron doses designed to offer protection from the original COVID-19 virus and the omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus. Pfizer’s omicron dose is authorized for people aged 12 years and older. Moderna’s omicron dose is authorized for people aged 18 years and older.  We have seen the term “bivalent” used in relation to this booster.  Bivalent simply means that it will target both the omicron variant and the original COVID-19 virus.  Please visit the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s (CDPHE) vaccine dose calculator to find out how many doses are needed for the highest level of protection:  covid19.colorado.gov/vaccine.

b.      COVID-19 Rate Status:  As of the time of this writing, Crowley is in Blue Level and Otero is in Yellow Level for the one week cumulative incidence rate  (COVID-19 dial dashboard | Colorado COVID-19 Updates).
