Lamar Fire & Emergency Services Assists with Bent Grass Fire

Lamar Fire along with multiple other agencies in the Southeast region were dispatched to Bent County road JJ and County road 17 for a grass fire.

Engine 4 responded with a PAR of two and reported to the fire. Upon arrival Engine 4 was placed into staging as the fire was in the wet lands around John Martin reservoir.

The crew was assigned to watch for spot fires that were jumping the fire line. Engine 4 was able to assist with multiple fire heads and assisted in protecting a historical homestead located at County Road JJ and County Road 19. 

The Division of Fire Prevention and Control was on scene with multiple hand crews, an engine, and aircraft. Multiple air drops were delivered by helicopters, SEAT aircraft, and a heavy air tanker.

Engine 4 was returned to service in Lamar at 1900 hours. Engine 4 was deployed again at 2100 hours to Bent County road 19 and County road JJ to assist in fire operations through the evening.
