Otero Students Successfully Competed at the 2023 UCCS Daniels Fund Ethics Case Competition

Otero Students Successfully Competed at the 2023 UCCS Daniels Fund Ethics Case Competition

LA JUNTA — Otero College is pleased to announce that four of its students - Brooke Harris, Natasha Gutierrez, Makyla Whattler, and Aaliyah Guerrero - recently participated in the UCCS Ethics Case Competition and achieved great success. The competition was hosted at The University of Colorado, Colorado Springs on November 4, 2023.

Every year, the UCCS College of Business hosts the UCCS Ethics Case Competition, which provides students an opportunity to apply their business knowledge, critical thinking skills, and principle-based ethical decision-making to real-world ethical situations. This event also enables students to build networks with local professionals. Students from several colleges across Colorado are invited to take part in this competition.

Under the guidance of Otero's dedicated faculty and staff members, Jadyn Bevington, Caitlyn Dieckmann, and Joseph Eubank, the four Otero College students were well-prepared for the competition. Their hard work, dedication, and commitment paid off as they effectively showcased their exemplary skills.

Aaliyah Guerrero expressed her enthusiasm about the competition, stating, "It was an amazing experience being able to step out of my comfort zone! My favorite part was meeting new people while working with new people as well."

Makyla Whattler had a great time building new connections, saying, "I had a great time meeting new people. My favorite part was dancing out the anxiety before the presentation."

Natasha Gutierrez, pleased with her peers' success, shared, "My favorite part of this experience was to see my peers excel in a new area!"

Brooke Harris reflected on her experience, stating, "It was a massive step out of my comfort zone, but seeing what my team and I could accomplish felt amazing. I loved meeting so many new people and experiencing something completely new, I am grateful to have been a part of it!"

In recognition of their exceptional performance, Otero College awarded the four students a micro-scholarship as a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication.
