Hello to all.  They say the only constant is change, and that is most certainly true especially in the complicated COVID-19 arena.  Effective today, Wednesday 12/30/2020 the COVID-19 vaccination Phase 1B group has been expanded to include workers from the following disciplines:  Direct care providers for people experiencing homelessness; education; food and agriculture; manufacturing; postal service; transportation; grocery; public health; executive, appointed, and judicial officials; and frontline journalists.  Additionally, people age 70 and older are now also included in Phase 1B.  You can access the revised, complete phase guidance here:  COVID-19 vaccine | Colorado COVID-19 Updates

For weeks OCHD has been planning our vaccination efforts around the previous guidance, and we have been proceeding in that manner.  We learned about the revised Phase 1B list today.  During our very busy vaccination administration schedule, I met with our Nursing Program Director, and we are diligently working to modify our vaccination plan to accommodate the changes to Phase 1B.  Please keep in mind that we are currently working with a very limited supply of vaccine.  Complicating matters, we also have to consider possible vaccine delivery delays, and how that could potentially impact the booster doses that are administered a month after the initial vaccination.

So stay tuned, I plan on having our revised, specific game plan (with dates and locations) ready to share with you on my weekly update which will be released this Friday, 1/1/2021.

Stay safe,

Richard Ritter, Executive Director
