Donna Abert Shared her family photo of her family restaurant in Swink from the early 1900's. Years later it became Hayes Fountain and Lunch which was also located in the current Swink Post Office Building on Columbia Avenue.

"...A picture of the inside of my grandparents restaurant in Swink that they said was located where the post office is now. It shows my grandmother Emma Ritthaler behindĀ  the counter and two small children, Johnny and Margaret Ritthaler. The menu shows a steak sandwich is 10 cents. My Mother, Margaret Ritthaler was born in Swink and perhaps they lived behind the restaurant. She is the small one in the picture. Picture taken around 1915."

According to Abert, later the family opened a bakery in La Junta, which burned down in a fire, then they moved the bakery to Main Street in Rocky Ford.
